About the program
The Greenland ice sheet is melting at an unprecedented rate and consequently the fjords and coastal waters around Greenland are exposed to an increasing amount of freshwater runoff. At the same time, coastal inflow is affecting the fjord systems and potentially escalating the melting of glaciers. Through multidisciplinary research, we aim to understand how glacier-ocean interaction drives the melting of the Greenland ice sheet and what impact melting glaciers have on the physical oceanography and ecology of the marine ecosystems of Greenland. We perform seasonal field work as part of long-term monitoring programs and embark on research cruises in fjords around Greenland.
