Long-term Benthos Monitoring Network – LTM Benthos

All arctic countries are striving to ensure sustainable exploitation of their marine resources. In recent years, there has been an increasing focus on the potential impact of commercial activities on the marine ecosystem in general, and on the diverse biological communities associated with the arctic seabed (benthos) in particular. Based on a common standardized sampling approach throughout the Arctic, the LTM Benthos Network provides extensive descriptions of mega-benthic communities with a unique geographical coverage.

With its regional focus, the LTM Benthos Network aims to generate standardized information about trends in key components of the arctic marine ecosystem and how they respond to both natural and anthropogenic stressors.
